I am always trying to find more organic and natural products to incorporate into my life. I’ve been determined to change deodorants and stop using the ones we find so frequently on the pharmacy shelves.  Last year my friend Prabdeep Kaur and I (she has a blog as well, check it out) went to the VegExpo in Vancouver.  We received small samples of Routine Deodorant to take home and try out.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the product.  It’s a cream that you have to rub into your armpits using a small pea-sized amount on your fingertip.  I wasn’t sure it would be enough to handle my needs.  Boy, was I wrong!

Natural Deodorant is the Way to Go

The small sample I used lasted two whole weeks, which I found very impressive.  I noticed that even though I do sweat when I use this cream, there is no bad odor or smell!  In Canada, antiperspirants are considered a drug and they change the function of the skin and inhibit the flow of sweat.  I don’t mind sweating as long as the smell is neutralized by using products that are more natural and aluminum-free.  Having said that, the clay-based formulas actually absorb sweat.  If you’re looking for a natural product that does the job of an antiperspirant, then definitely check out the clay-based formula.  This may change your life!

Which Scent Should You Try First?

The sample that I had tried originally was named Sexy Sadie and is baking soda-free.  The next product I purchased was the regular-sized Lucy in the Sky (which happens to be vegan – no beeswax) for $28.00CAD from our local Choices Market.  I also purchased Johnny’s Cash for my husband at the same time.  Although it appears to be pricey, it lasted us both from July 2017 – February 2018!  My husband and I were both pretty impressed with the results, and I think that makes it well worth it.

Currently, we are trying out a non-vegan version (Sweet Jane and The Curator).  It is made with a clay + beeswax formula and we are both finding that we may prefer the vegan one.  We like the vegan one because it has a softer consistency and is easier to rub in (also seemed to last longer).  We’ve been using our current products since February and they are almost halfway done.  We will most likely will continue to use the vegan products.

I am currently reusing the small container I received with the sample by filling it up with the cream from the larger canister and I keep it in my purse in case of emergencies.

Not only do I recommend this product, but I really love the fact that this company is based out of Calgary, AB.  All of their products and boxes are also made in Canada!  Routine is available on their website, organic stores, Amazon and other online websites.
