Travel Lego Kit!

My daughter is turning 4 this month and is having her birthday celebration at school next week. We decided to make some easy birthday favors for her classmates – travel lego kits! I don’t know about you but I certainly appreciate it when we receive favors that are really useful in our daily lives (books, paint kits, etc.), so I hope that the parents of these children will love this as much as we do! I was inspired by Making Things is Awesome and pretty much followed her step-by-step guide.

How to Make Your Travel Lego Kit

Materials:

  • Square Sandwich Container (Dollarama)
  • Square Lego board + Lego pieces to put inside (Dollar Tree)
  • E6000 glue (clear)

As Making Things is Awesome suggested in her post – I bought these Lego knockoffs (Lego is expensive!) called BLOCK TECH from Dollar Tree. Each package was $1.25, and the sandwich containers are from Dollarama which were also $1.25 each. I spent a total of $40 CAD on this project and that’s not too bad!

E6000 is a very strong adhesive, so be sure to use caution when using it (ie. keep the kids away!). We got ours from Canadian Tire, but it is available everywhere.

Step 1: apply the glue in the middle and also some small dabs on the corners of the sandwich container lid

Step 2: Glue the board onto the lid, pressing down firmly, and let it sit for 24 hours before use.

Step 3: Repeat! We made 10 boxes, the blue ones for the boys in my daughter’s class, and the pink ones for the girls.

Step 4: Add the block pieces to the sandwich boxes and voila! You have some travel lego kits ready to go!

We tried some of our actual real Lego pieces on the board and they fit perfectly fine. Harry Potter for the win!

I may decide to print some tags to go along with it – if I do, I will be sure to share on here!
